Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow...

Snowy Christmas 2008

Oh, the weather outside is frightful... but the fire is so delightful....

...yep, that pretty much sums up our Christmas Day. We've been getting snow on and off for about the last week or so, but the big storm arrived Christmas Eve. We had just enough time to get home from a family Christmas dinner at my sister's house before the wind and the snowflakes really started flying. It snowed all night and didn't stop until late afternoon Christmas Day.

I can't think of anything cozier than being "snowed in" on Christmas Day. (We didn't venture out all day - not even to shovel!) We lit the fireplace, we snacked, we napped, we phoned relatives, we played with our gifts, and we watched Christmas movies. We enjoyed a Christmas dinner -- just the three of us -- and watched more movies until bedtime.  The weatherman says 6 more inches for tomorrow -- bring it!

Let it snow...let it snow...let it snow!

I have to agree, there is nothing quite like being snowed in for Christmas. Glad it was nice a cozy and enjoyable for you all.

All day we waited for the snow to come; I had kind of got my heart set on a White Christmas. But there was no snow all day---just freezing cold temperatures and strong winds...But then, oh JOY! right before the hubby and I went to bed, I looked out the window and saw a heavy snow! What a perfect way to end the day.

It has been even more perfect today-- Neighbor Dave saw the hubby shoveling and rescued us with his trusty snow blower! More JOY!

We had exactly the same kind of day AND we had SNOW for Christmas. We got some snow last year ON Christmas day (just a dusting) but this year we've had snow for almost 2 weeks already and we got FRESH new snow falling on Christmas morning. I had wished that it would snow on Christmas morning to cover up the nasty, brown slush that had started on Christmas Eve (which also worked out so we were able to see my parents and do our "German Christmas" with no travel problems.

So we just had a lazy day and also just had dinner alone with our own little family. Alyssa never got dressed all day but Tristan was dressed before coming in our room in the morning since our rule is usually that you have to dress before you downstairs! LOL He was eager to get downstairs and to the tree and stockings! :-) (Smart boy!)

Unfortunately today we had to get back to work cleaning up the house and shoveling the driveway since I have a post-Christmas Open House tomorrow, but it snowed AGAIN. I'm not sure if anyone will actually make it, but our driveway is cleared except for the 2 inches that fell while we were shoveling! :-) And I'm kind of glad the house is nice and neat even if the party doesn't happen! :)

I love snow! We had a white Christmas here in Missouri too! We also had some ice storms and it was absolutly beautiful.
