We got a new garage door! You may be thinking sarcastically, "Wow. Somebody call HGTV. " Hey, it's a home improvement! I'll take it! I love the new look it gives to the house, and at this point it was a NEED and not a WANT.
We won't mention all the stories this door could tell. Like the driver's side door being ripped off by a distracted driver in reverse (oh yeah -- that one was in front of the neighbors!), or driving a vehicle in the garage while the door was coming down...
I will mention that the installers laughed and shook their heads when they saw how old the door and openers were. Let's just say Michael Jackson still looked normal, and was singing "Bad", when these beauties were installed. :-)
Well, tell me what you think...
Out with the old...
And in with the new...
Welcome to 2008, little house!

Totally classic! And I should say something about how people don't make stuff like they used to, since our house is only 2 years old and already we have had to have servicemen work on our door! At least yours lasted a long time despite obvious attempts at its life.
What a nice garage door. Wahoo! It's in!
I'm glad that you no longer have to approach "Death's Door" anymore and can enjoy the new one. It's very classy looking.
You guys crack me up. "Death's Door"..."obvious attempts at its life"... LOL
I should hire you both to write on the blog! It would be an improvement, I'm sure! ;-)
We won't talk about the garge door at my house either. The one that's been backed into twice before it was fully up, and ran into once from the opposite direction from and impatient driver wanting to get in, don't look at the wooden frame where someone scraped the side view mirror along because the vehicle was parked to close to the edge. Nope we won't talk about those things. And we most certainly WON'T admit that all those happenings were done by me. :)
Your new door looks very lovely. I like the windows!
Our is currently open about four inches at the bottom. Won't close any further. DH was worrying about it the other day, and I said, "Yeah, the four-inch tall thieves are going to come in and steal stuff!" He just gave me a look and said, "Mice!"
Oh. Yeah.
Your new door looks very nice on your oh-so-kindredly home!
Kindred Twinsies we are and always will be, I think. Totally envious of your new doors as we just had a man out to give us estimates for new doors for us. With the financial situation in the world currently and having been through what we both went through in 2001-2002 we've decided we will try to make our current doors work/last a little longer. Still, it WOULD be nice to have doors that aren't literally ratcheted together so that they don't fall apart and will open and close. :)
Personally I think your old doors look better than our current ones. ;-)
