Today is the first day of Autumn -- it's official! Mrs. B beat me to the punch by posting the *perfect* autumn post today. Go check it out.
I will have to be content with showing you pictures we took last week of the Alpine Loop. The mountains are just 10 minutes away from my house, and the Alpine Loop is a route you can take through these mountains (up, up, around and through -- hmmm, that sounds like Sesame Street, LOL). When we drive it, it starts up in the northern part of our county and comes out about an hour later at the Sundance Resort. The views all along the way are spectacular. In the fall, you can add *amazing* autumn color to the list! IMHO, the color rivals what they've got out east.
The colors are just starting to turn. A promise of things to come in just another week or so. Maybe we'll go up again then. In the meantime, I'm enjoying a perfectly timed fall storm blustering through this morning. I'm off to make a cup of cocoa... :-)

You are so sweet! Although my post was far from perfect! I didn't have such beautiful pictures of scenery to share! You live in such a beautiful part of the country. We spent time in that area on vacation a couple of times when I was a kid and I remember how gorgeous it was. I bet the fall is spectacular! A lot of people don't realize how much color we get out west, but we really have very pretty falls I think. LOL about "up up around and through..." I think we have a Berenstein Bears book with those exact words!

And I know I never answered your email, (yikes) but you are always, always, always, ALWAYS welcome in our home and if you ever DO come out this way, you can believe I'll move heaven and earth to meet up with you!!!!!!!!!! PS. I'm sorry I missed your call the other day! It was so good to hear your voice on the phone!

Thanks for the gorgeous photos, and for bringing back many fond memories of drives over the Loop.
Funny that you post them now: when we were in Alaska, I kept thinking that the area was like the Alpine Loop - on steroids!
